The Nature of Things

Money come, money go,
And they flow, the little scientists,
Run, scientists, run!
So cute, so friendly in their
natural environment
But watch out! Here comes a congressional bill!
See them play dead.
Bills can’t see you if you’re not moving,
Natural defense mechanism,
But oh! A scientist twitched!
The gnashing fangs
Now see them puff out their lab coats,
Many times their size
To entice, to ensnare,
to lead danger away from the pack.
This winter,
They will migrate to California,
Where the water does not freeze.
